Compaq 504966-001 (Q) How do I know what I have and what I need? (A) If your original power supply is #504966-001 & has a BLACK top like the pictures above it is 220 watts. You can use your choice of the 220 watt or the 250 watt unit. See below. The 250 watt unit talked about above is a direct replacement. Not "kinda the same" but EXACTLY the same.
